For topical CBD products used in massage, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has indicated that they are exempt from control under the Controlled Substances Act. There is no federal prohibition on massage therapists using CBD products as long as the product is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC. However, state and local regulations vary, and some jurisdictions have stricter rules or licensing board requirements that massage therapists must follow. Always check with your state and local government before performing a CBD massage.
